Gearing up at Gryphonwood!

It's a busy time at Gryphonwood! Last month we released Dead Eye: The Skinwalker Conspiracies by Jim Bernheimer. This long-awaited sequel to Dead Eye: Pennies for the Ferryman is now sitting at #1 in Conspiracy Theories (we know, weird category) and is also on the bestseller charts in Horror and Occult.

Today we are pleased to announce the release of Magic Mirror by Sean Ellis. Sean is a well-known thriller author whose most recent book, Callsign: King (co-authored with Jeremy Robinson) spent several weeks high on the Action-Adventure charts. Magic Mirror is a fast-paced science thriller- a bit of Clive Cussler and a bit of Michael Crichton.

It begins with a mysterious disappearance....it will end with a world on the edge of destruc

tion.

Twenty years ago, Derrick Sayler made a fantastic breakthrough, then vanished off the face of the earth. When Michael Rook, an environmental engineer with a deadly secret, finds a car belonging to the missing genius in a remote Oregon lake, the question of Sayler's fate appears to be answered. But Rook's discovery uncovers something far more immediate...and infinitely more dangerous. Willoughby Bane, Sayler's s former partner, is poised to unveil Magic Mirror, a magnetic-levitation space launch facility in the Canadian wilderness, but he cannot escape his obsession with his long-lost partner. Rook's search for the unbelievable truth will put him on a collision course with Bane and Magic Mirror.

Praise for Sean Ellis“Magic Mirror quickly builds up steam into an action packed thrill ride full of mystery, adventure, and a touch of the paranormal. Sean Ellis has written a story that will keep you reading until the wee hours.” --Rick Nichols, author of Survivor's Affair and The Affairs of Men

“Sean Ellis’ Magic Mirror successfully blends the action-adventure of Clive Cussler with the paranormal flair of Dean Koontz—a unique and exciting combination that serves this high octane mystery well.” --Rick Chesler, author of Wired Kingdom and kiDNApped

Looking ahead, we will soon be releasing Blood Sword, the sequel to Terry W. Ervin II's debut fantasy, Flank Hawk. There's even more coming after that, but we'll save that news for later.

New Books from Gryphonwood Authors

Gryphonwood authors Jim Bernheimer and Alan Baxter have each recently released new books. Here's a little bit about each book:

Jim just published his novella, Confessions of a D-List Supervillain.

“Being a supervillain means never having to say you’re sorry … Unless it’s to the judge or the parole board. Even then, you don’t really have to. It’s not like it’s going to change the outcome or anything.”

Those are the words of Calvin Matthew Stringel, better known as Mechani-Cal. He’s a sarcastic, down on his luck armored villain. Follow his exploits as he gets swept up in a world domination scheme gone wrong and ends up working for this weak willed, mercy loving heroes. Immerse yourself in his epic battles and see what it’s like to be an outsider looking in at a world that few have ever experienced.

Climb into Cal’s battlesuit and join him on his journey. Will he avoid selling out his principles for a paycheck and a pardon? Can he resist the camaraderie of being on a super team? Does he fall prey to the ample charms of the beautiful Olympian Aphrodite? How will he survive the jealous schemes of Ultraweapon, who wears armor so powerful it makes Cal’s look like a museum piece?

See the world of “righteous do-gooders through the eyes of someone who doesn’t particularly care for them.

And remember - Losing an argument with a group of rioters isn’t a good excuse to start lobbing tear gas indiscriminately at them. You’ve only got so many rounds and it’s going to be a long day, so make sure you get as many as possible with each one."

Alan has released Write the Fight Right, a how-to book on writing fight scenes based on Alan's popular workshop of the same name.

A fiction writer's resource for creating realistic, convincing fight scenes.Author and martial arts instructor, Alan Baxter, presents a short, ~12,000 word, ebook describing all the things a writer needs to consider when writing fight scenes. Baxter's experience from decades as a career martial artist make this book a valuable resource for writers who want to understand what fighting is all about - what it really feels like and what does and doesn't work - and how to factor those things into their writing to make their fight scenes visceral, realistic page turners. Baxter won't tell you how to write, but he will tell you what makes a great fight scene.
